Pension Office hosted an Evening Tea with Grandparents in B. Eydhafushi as part of the ongoing National Grandparents’ Day celebrations.

The event brought together grandparents from the community for an enjoyable evening, providing an opportunity to connect, socialize and spend time together in a relaxed setting. The event saw participation from more than 150 members of the community, including grandparents and their accompanying family members.

Speaking at the event, Pension Office Chief Operating Officer Mariyam Shiuna highlighted the important role of grandparents in families and societies, and the significance of recognising their contributions.

She stated that one of the key purposes of celebrating Grandparents’ Day at the national level is to recognise the important role grandparents have played, and continue to play, in our society, and to appreciate their contributions towards nurturing and shaping generations.

Speaking on behalf of the B. Eydhafushi Council, Council President Shamee Ibrahim noted the valuable role played by grandparents in supporting families and contributing to society as a whole.

He highlighted that the sacrifices grandparents have made in nurturing and building virtuous generations are invaluable, recognizing grandparents as one of the most important cornerstones of society.

As part of the programme, the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare conducted a session of the “Ufaaveri Raasthaa” Program, which provided insights into maintaining a healthy lifestyle in retirement, highlighting the importance of healthy habits and overall well-being as people grow older.

The Grandparents’ Day celebrations in B. Eydhafushi are being conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare, the Local Government Authority, and B. Eydhafushi Council, reflecting a shared commitment to celebrating older generations.
