Ghaly Murthala joined the Pension Office Board in February 2022 as a member representing the private sector. Ghaly is the Founder and Managing Director of Morteza Capital Limited, an investment, development and financial advisory firm specializing in the Maldives.
Ghaly has over 15 years of experience in hospitality, tourism and real estate investments. Since founding Morteza Capital Limited in 2015, he has advised both local and international investors on hotel, real estate and corporate finance transactions worth over US$100M.
He was also formerly Tourism Sector Advisor at FJS Consulting Pvt Ltd, one of Maldives’ most prominent consulting firms where he advised the Maldivian government on tourism planning strategy, including reviewing key legislation on hotel investments. He formerly headed the Ministry of Tourism’s development division where he oversaw compliance for over 70 new resort developments projects.
Ghaly is a regular speaker on Maldives-related panels at regional and international investment conferences and has been a member of the judging panel for the MATATO Travel Awards, a prominent travel industry event in the Maldives.
Ghaly holds an MBA from Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, and a Bachelor of Tourism Management and Engineering from Universite de Toulouse le Mirail, France.
